The A Girls Archive

About The A Girls

This is a collection of short short stories involving three sisters: Alice, the oldest; Alma, the middle child; and April, the youngest.

The stories chronicle their adventures. Some of them are Flashbacks to little kid youth and some are Fastforwards to major adulthood. If a story is not labeled one of those two things it can be presumed to be the present for them. I have been asked frequently: “What age are the girls at present?”  Since their adventures reveal themselves in random order it is impossible to give them precise ages in the present. They exist between swingsets and second mortgages.

These distinctions are necessary because the A girls are unique in their verbal skills and reasoning. They are advanced and maybe even sophisticated sometimes as young girls, but as adults they are, at times, juvenile and silly. Okay, they are almost always silly in a way.

Sometimes a story takes place in parts and that will be indicated in the entry somewhere. There are search tools available to find the story your looking for if by chance you would like to read a specific one.

The majority of The A Girls were first published on a personal blog of mine elsewhere but aren’t anywhere else and that should remain the case. Please assume these are copyrighted by me.

Other frequently asked questions:

Q: Are these true stories?

A: No.

Q: Some of the details sound familiar though. Are you sure? I know you and I think this really happened.

A: Shut up. And yeah,  I used details, tiny things, that some people may recognize but generally those people are related to me in some way. None of the stories are or can be proved true. So there.

Q:  Are these girls you and your sisters?

A:  No. At best they are cartoon characters of us. Highly exaggerated.

Q: Why are the parents called The Mother and The Father and not given names?

A: Because that is how the girls see them. They are iconic to the girls and thus have iconic names. They do have characters of their own; however, to the girls they remain as parents remain to their children: the mother and the father.

Q:  When will a new one come out?

A:  As soon as I get the time to write one. I exist after second mortgage and before retirement condo.

Please feel free to ask any other questions in the comments and also to make suggestions or critique. I can take it. I make errors and appreciate corrections.

The A Girls stories are an act of love for me, so I want to do it well and if have advice that will improve upon them, please let me know.

Warnings: Every once in a while profanities are used, especially by April.
